10. How do I uninstall BurnAware?
1. I purchased the software and did not receive my license key, what should I do?
Most often this is due to spam filters or anti-virus programs. It is rare that an anti-virus program will block your license key, but some systems have blocked our emails as "junk" email. In this case you will need to contact us with an alternate email address.
2. When will I receive my product?
As soon as your payment is received your license key is sent to you by email immediately. You can download the latest trial version from the download section and use your license key to unlock it.
3. My license key does not work. What should I do?
Registration name and license key must be entered exactly as printed in your confirmation email. The easiet way to make sure that you are entering the correct registration name is to copy and paste it directly from your confirmation email. If your license key is older than 12 months it will not unlock new releases of the software (see next question).
4. What is your upgrade policy?
Each license allows one year of free upgrades beginning from the date of purchase. After this year, you should contact us to receive a special upgrade offer, or continue to use the last working version. The version does not expire after one year.
5. How do I upgrade to the latest version?
Download the latest version from the Downloads page and install it. Uninstall of previous version is not required.
6. How do I unlock the software?
When you use the unregistered software you will be presented with the "Trial version reminder" screen, in this screen you need to click the "Enter license key" button and enter your registration name and key then click OK.
7. Is there a functional difference between the trial and the registered version?
Trial versions are not limited in their function. We highly recommend to test before you buy, to make sure your hardware is compatible with the product you want to obtain.
8. Can I get your software on a CD-ROM?
Yes, you can order a CD-ROM by checking the corresponding box at the order page. However, please keep in mind that this CD-ROM contains exactly the same files as the ones downloadable from our Web site. Except for a very limited number of situations (e.g. when your organization requires that a hard copy must be received as a proof of purchase), there is absolutely no point in ordering a CD-ROM.
1. "Setup files are corrupted" error appears. What to do?
Download the program using download manager e.g. FlashGet.
2. Can I copy Audio CDs with BurnAware?
No. You can copy any type of discs except Audio CDs.
3. While i'm burning an ISO-image, my CPU usage keeps around 50%. Is this normal?
We want our multi-threaded buffer to maximize CPU usage. We need to make sure the data stream does not get interrupted.
Our buffer was designed with this in mind so the more CPU usage we can hold onto, the better it is.
4. Is Windows 98/ME supported?
No.
5. Is BurnAware available in Portable version?
No.
6. Where BurnAware stores it's settings?
The BurnAware settings are stored in the INI file placed in the Application Data directory (e.g. D:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Application Data\burnaware.ini).
7. What are the DVD-Video files?
The DVD-Video files are *.VOB, *.IFO, *.BUP files. Usually placed in the VIDEO_TS folder.
8. My files to burn are 4.38 GB (or bigger) and I am using a 4.7 GB DVD disc, why won't it fit on the media?
A 4.7 GB disc will only hold 4.37 GB of data, the computer sees 1 GB as 1,073,741,824 bytes. The disc manufactures see 1 GB as 1,000,000,000 bytes. So for them a 4.7GB DVD disc holds 4,700,000,000 bytes. That divided by 1,073,714,824 (a real GB) makes 4.37 GB of real data storage.
9. The dvd is not closes can I somehow close it afterwards?
Yes. Insert the disc, launch the Data Disc compilation, check the finalize disc option and burn the disc.
10. How do I uninstall BurnAware?
1. From the "Start" menu in Windows, select "Programs"
2. Select "Burnaware"
3. Select "Uninstall BurnAware"
